Community Paramedics has a great reputation for providing distinguished first aid training in Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas. We are suited to teach all of your specific first aid requirements.

Our teachers use the best of university style teaching which includes the use of digital media, videos, personal experience and up to date evidence in a very relaxed style to ensure you or your clients absorb the key essential elements of life saving.

We welcome clients with learning difficulties or have different learning styles and receive great feedback from our clients.

Most of our courses include the following core content including free AED and epipen training:

  1. The recognition of the unwell patient.
  2. Access to emergency and urgent care,
  3. Medical emergencies.
  4. Traumatic emergencies, including bleeding and head injuries.
  5. Unconscious Patient, positioning and examination.
  6. Basic Life Support (adult).
  7. Basic Life Support (child).
  8. Automatic External Defibrillators (no extra cost).
  9. Anaphylaxis and epipen, if required (no extra cost).
  10. Additional specific medical or traumatic lectures available on request.
  11. Incident reporting and handover to Paramedics.

Our First Aid courses include:

One Day Emergency First Aid (valid for three years)

This course is designed for low threat environments, and covers most of our core content. Delivery is through discussion, videos, and animation with two hours practical sessions in the afternoon, assessment is informal during these sessions. This course can be adapted to focus on your environment or likely types of injuries.

Three Day First Aid at work (valid for three years)

This course is designed for staff who need the first aid at work qualification. This is similar to the one day course but involves more scenario work, and an in depth review of each medical and traumatic emergency. The use of haemostatic agents and tourniquets are now taught in our course for free. You will have adequate support to prepare you for a short final assessment at the end of the course.

Two Day (12hour) Paediatric First Aid

This is designed to conform to standards set by Ofsted, with an emphasis on common children’s medical conditions. The course will include specific medical conditions that a child may have at your place of work.

  1. The recognition of the unwell child.
  2. Access to emergency and urgent care.
  3. Medical emergencies for children, including asthma and meningitis.
  4. Traumatic emergencies, including bleeding and head injuries.
  5. Unconscious patient, positioning and examination.
  6. Basic Life Support (adult).
  7. Basic Life Support (child).
  8. Automatic External Defibrillators (no extra cost).
  9. Anaphylaxis and epipen, if required (no extra cost).
  10. Additional child medical conditions.
  11. Medication and parental consent.
  12. Incident reporting and handover to Paramedics.

Sports First Aid

Specifically designed for sports coaches or PE teachers. The emphasis is on signs and tests for bone injuries and referral pathways. Our extensive operational experience in this field is utilised and passed on to our students. The course will include AED and epipen training as standard.

Outdoor First Aid

Challenges of remote first aid are addressed with outdoor practical sessions. Extraction and pain relief solutions are discussed and practised, in order to provide students with the understanding and skills needed to provide safe care in the outdoor environment. This course can also provide continual professional development for healthcare professionals or first aid instructors, and can be performed at either our or your home office.

Bespoke lectures or training days can be laid on and can cover:

  1. Patient assessment and clinical reasoning for health care professionals.
  2. The assessment of traumatic injuries, knee, shoulder, ankle, chest, heart, abdomen.
  3. The assessment of the medical, patient, chest, heart, abdomen.
  4. Updates and CPD (Continuing Professional Development)  for first aid instructors.
